The Story

Seiko Astron HAB003J1 — GPS Solar Chronograph in Titanium

The Seiko Astron HAB003J1 belongs to the new 2026 generation of Astron GPS Solar design, pairing satellite-synchronised timekeeping with a full 24-hour chronograph. At its heart is Seiko's Calibre 5X63 GPS solar movement, which connects to GPS satellites to adjust to your time zone automatically and keeps to within ±15 seconds per month even without a signal. The 43.4mm case is crafted from titanium with a super-hard coating, kept to a wearable 12.4mm thickness and 50.0mm lug-to-lug, and finished with a sapphire crystal treated with Seiko's super-clear coating. Powered entirely by light, it runs approximately six months on a full charge and up to two years in power save mode.

Key Features

  • GPS solar Calibre 5X63 — receives GPS satellite signals to correct the time and time zone at the press of a button, so the watch stays accurate wherever you land, with no battery changes required.
  • 24-hour chronograph in 1/20-second increments — full stopwatch capability measured to a twentieth of a second, a level of timing precision that suits everything from track sessions to flight legs.
  • Titanium case with super-hard coating — around 40% lighter than steel on the wrist, with a scratch-resistant surface treatment that keeps the 43.4mm case looking sharp through daily wear.
  • Perpetual calendar to February 2100 — the date adjusts itself for short months and leap years, decades into the future, with a day display alongside.
  • World time across 38 cities with dual-time and time transfer — track a second time zone on the sub-dial and swap it with the main dial in seconds when you travel.
  • Silicone strap with easy-adjust clasp and quick-change system — the three-fold clasp releases at a push of a button for on-the-fly sizing, and the strap swaps without tools.
  • Built for real conditions — 10 bar water resistance, 4,800 A/m magnetic resistance, LumiBrite on the hands and indexes, and a screw caseback.

Why You'll Love It

The Astron HAB003J1 is the watch for the man whose week crosses time zones. Land, press a button, and the hands move themselves to local time — no maths, no fiddling with the crown. The titanium build means you barely feel 43.4mm of GPS chronograph on the wrist, and because the dial recharges from any light source, it asks almost nothing of you in return. It is satellite precision worn quietly.

Astron HAB003J1 vs Astron SSJ037J1

Choosing between the two? The Seiko Astron SSJ037J1 takes the cleaner three-hand GPS Solar route for a dressier, simpler presentation, while the HAB003J1 adds the 24-hour chronograph, dual-time sub-dial layout and the new 2026-generation case design. If you time things — flights, laps, calls across regions — the HAB003J1 is the one that earns its place.

The Seiko Story

Seiko was founded in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori in Tokyo, and in 1969 released the Astron, the world's first quartz wristwatch. The Astron name returned in 2012 to mark another first — the world's first GPS solar watch — and the HAB003J1 carries that lineage forward: a watch that takes its time directly from satellites and its energy directly from light.
