The Story

Casio Vintage AQ-230EGG-3ADF โ€” Gunmetal Analog-Digital, Dark Green Sunray Dial

The AQ-230EGG-3ADF is the premium variant of Casio Vintage's rectangular analog-digital โ€” a dark green sunray dial with gold hour markers, hands, and indexes, set in a gunmetal black chrome PVD case and gray ion-plated stainless steel bracelet. Based on the AQ-230 platform, a direct descendant of the 1982 Casio Janus AQ200 โ€” but with the finishes and details reworked for a more elevated, luxe take on the retro form.

Key Features:

  • Gunmetal black chrome PVD case โ€” the defining upgrade of the "EGG" line, giving the AQ-230 platform a darker, more distinctive presence than the standard chrome-plated variants.
  • Dark green sunray dial with gold accents โ€” sunray finish catches light differently across the day, and the gold-tone hour/minute hands and bar indexes lift the whole palette from casual retro into premium territory.
  • Analog-digital combination dial โ€” two-hand analog for hour and minute, paired with a digital readout for seconds, date, and day. The layout keeps the hands from overlapping the LCD, so both displays stay readable at a glance.
  • Slim 8.1 mm profile โ€” 38.8 ร— 29.8 mm rectangular case, sized for slender wrists and comfortable enough to sit under a shirt cuff. Weighs just 47 g.
  • Gray ion-plated stainless steel bracelet with adjustable clasp โ€” matched to the case finish, with an adjustable buckle sized for 140โ€“205 mm wrists.
  • Dual time, 1/100-second stopwatch, and daily alarm โ€” the digital side handles world time, a stopwatch with 60-minute measuring capacity, and a repeating daily alarm with hourly time signal.
  • Approx. 3-year battery life on SR920W โ€” long-life single-cell power for everyday wear, with auto-calendar and full 12/24-hour format support.

Why You'll Love It:

This is the "EGG" upgrade of Casio's classic 1980s analog-digital โ€” same slim, rectangular form and same reliable movement as the standard AQ-230A, but with the finishes reworked. Gunmetal PVD in place of chrome, sunray green in place of flat colour, gold accents in place of black. It's the pick for anyone who likes the retro AQ-230 silhouette but wants something more distinctive than the standard steel variants, without stepping up to the full gold-plated AQ-230GA range.

About Casio Vintage:

Casio was founded in 1946 in Tokyo by Tadao Kashio, and entered watchmaking in 1974 with a focus on durable, function-led timepieces. The Casio Vintage line โ€” sometimes called the Casio Collection โ€” brings back the digital and analog-digital models that defined 1980s and 1990s wristwatch design, including the rectangular AQ-230 (a direct descendant of the 1982 Janus AQ200) and the square A158, A168, and F91W models.
